Sportsvillage - Uni of Herts, Hatfield

The University of Hertfordshire DeHavilland campus in Hatfield on the site of the former British Aerospace site which itself was the birthplace of the jet airliner in 1949 with the construction and maiden flight of the Comet jet airliner.

Construction of the £120 million university site was started in 2001 and the whole complex and opened in 2003 with the £15 million Sportsvillage opening its doors on 22nd August 2003.

 

An 8-lane, 25 metre deck level pool; full Omega timing, LED matrix display, reaction times and 250 seat spectator area. A moveable boom splits the pool into two smaller areas of 16.5 metres and 7.5 metres. The pool also boasts a moveable floor allowing depths to be varied from 0 to 1.8 metres and different depths in each area.
